Title: Assessing ICT User Groups
Authors: Benjamin Weiss, Ina Wechsung, Stefanie Marquardt
Abstract: A questionnaire to assess attitude towards information and communication technology (ICT) and experience with it is developed and evaluated. With 30 items user attributes are collected on six factors. With this questionnaire, individual users can be clustered in accordance with an existing ICT taxonomy. A revised version is proposed after the validation of the first questionnaire. This screening instrument is meant to complement existing methods of assessing competency with technology. Furthermore, the possibility to classify users within the ICT taxonomy provides additional means to analyze data from interaction experiments and to screen prospective participants for usability tests and scientific experiments.

Title: Bricolage: Example-Based Retargeting for Web Design
Authors: Ranjitha Kumar Jerry O Talton Salman Ahmad Scott R Klemmer
Abstract: The Web provides a corpus of design examples unparalleled in human history. However, leveraging existing designs to produce new pages is often difficult. This paper introduces the Bricolage algorithm for transferring design and content between Web pages. Bricolage employs a novel, structured-prediction technique that learns to create coherent mappings between pages by training on human-generated exemplars. The produced mappings are then used to automatically transfer the content from one page into the style and layout of an-other. We show that Bricolage can learn to accurately repro-duce human page mappings, and that it provides a general, efficient, and automatic technique for retargeting content between a variety of real Web pages.

Title: Engineering Mathematics: The Odd Order Theorem Proof
Authors: Georges Gonthier
Abstract: Even with the assistance of computer tools, the formalized description and verification of research-level mathematics remains a daunting task, not least because of the talent with which mathematicians combine diverse theories to achieve their ends. By combining tools and techniques from type theory, language design, and software engineering we have managed to capture enough of these practices to formalize the proof of the Odd Order theorem, a landmark result in Group Theory.

Title: Low Power VLSI Implementation of Adaptive Noise Canceller Based on LeastMean Square Algorithm
Authors: Vakulabharanam Ramakrishna, Tipparti Anil Kumar
Abstract: This paper presents VLSI implementation of adaptive noise canceller based on least mean square algorithm. First, the adaptive parameters are obtained by simulating noise canceller on MATLAB. Simulink model of adaptive noise canceller was developed and the noise is suppressed to a much larger extent in recovering the original signal. The data such as input and output signals, desired signal, step size factor and coefficients of adaptive filter was processed by FPGA. Finally, the functions of field programmable gate array -based system structure for adaptive noise canceller based on LMS algorithm are synthesized, simulated, and implemented on XilinxXC3s200 field programmable gate array using Xilinx ISE tool. The research results show that it is feasible to implement and use adaptive least mean square filter based adaptive noise canceller design which consumed a low power of 0.156W at29.1° C in a single field programmable gate array chip.

Title: A method for the coating of a polymer inclusion membrane with a monolayer of silver nanoparticles
Authors: Ya Ya N Bonggotgetsakul, Robert W Cattrall, Spas D Kolev
Abstract: The preparation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is described using a polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) consisting of 45% (m/m) di-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) and 55% (m/m) poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) as a template. The Ag(I) ion was ?rstly extracted into the membrane via cation-exchange and then subsequently reduced with NaBH , trisodium citrate, citric acid, or L-ascorbic acid to form AgNPs. The most effective reducing agent was found to be L-ascorbic acid which at pH 2.0 formed a uniform monolayer of AgNPs of an average size of 360 nm on the surface of the PIM. Citric acid also produced AgNPs but these were embedded in the bulk of the membrane and did not provide a good surface coverage. NaBH and trisodium citrate, on the other hand, gave rise to the formation of black silver oxide on the membrane surface. Factors such as the membrane loading with Ag(I), PIM composition, reduction time, temperature and shaking time were found to have a significant influence on the surface coverage and size of the AgNPs.
